St. Tammany Parish is located in Southeast Louisiana, sharing its eastern border with Mississippi, and has a population of nearly 240,000 residents. The parish was formed in 1810 from parts of present-day St. Helena Parish and Orleans Parish and is named for the famed Native American Chief Tamanend. Known by many as the “North Shore”, St. Tammany Parish is located on Lake Pontchartrain and the parish seat is located in the city of Covington.
