Jackson Parish

Located in North Central Louisiana, Jackson Parish has a population of over 16,000 residents and is home to the beautiful Jimmie Davis State Park located on Caney Lake. The park is named after former state governor and famed singer Jimmie Davis, who wrote the Louisiana state song, “You Are My Sunshine.” Jackson Parish is nicknamed the “Sunshine Parish” and holds the Sunshine Festival annually every April in Jonesboro. The parish was founded in 1845 and is named after the United States’ seventh President Andrew Jackson. Jackson Parish was created from parts of Claiborne Parish, Ouachita Parish, and Union Parish. Jonesboro is the parish seat and also the parish’s largest city. Jackson Parish is neighbors with Lincoln Parish to its north and Winn Parish to its south.

Motor vehicle crashes have become commonplace in today’s time, and they can happen unexpectedly to anyone at any location. Almost 69,000 people suffered injuries and over 660 more were killed in motor vehicle collisions last year in Louisiana. Even if a wreck isn’t fatal, the repercussions of the accident can have life-altering consequences on the victims and their loved ones. The causes of these accidents range from a driver simply not paying attention to other cars on the road to a driver recklessly driving under the influence of drugs or alcohol. Vehicular accident claims can become complex when the circumstances of the wreck are complicated and only a skilled personal injury attorney has the expertise to analyze the facts in these situations and determine who is liable for damages.

Jackson Parish Motor Vehicle Accident Statistics:

  • Thirty-five people were injured in motor vehicle crashes.
  • Three people were killed in vehicular accidents.
  • Alcohol-related accidents were responsible for five injuries.
  • Three people died in motorcycle accidents.
