East Carroll Parish

East Carroll Parish, with a population of roughly 7,500 residents, is located on the far northeast tip of Louisiana, sharing borders with both Mississippi and Arkansas. Situated on the Mississippi river, Carroll Parish was originally founded in 1832 from parts of Concordia Parish and Ouachita Parish. A feud erupted over the location of the seat of government, leading to a division and East Carroll Parish was founded in 1877. The parish is named after the last surviving signer of the Declaration of Independence, Charles Carroll of Carrollton, Maryland. East Carroll Parish is home to popular historic landmarks such as Poverty Point and the Buckmeadow Plantation House. The parish has long been one of the largest cotton producers in the state, and one can explore this parish’s rich cotton history at the Louisiana State Cotton Museum in Lake Providence.

In 2013 alone, nearly 69,000 people were injured in vehicular crashes in Louisiana and an additional 668 were killed. With millions of motorists living and passing through Louisiana each year, these accidents are a common occurrence and oftentimes are simply unavoidable. The causation of these accidents can occur for a variety of reasons; for example, a driver may be distracted while talking on the phone and rear-end a vehicle. Motor vehicle accidents sometimes involve sets of complex circumstances, which make it difficult to apportion liability. Only a skilled personal injury attorney can assess the situation, analyze the facts of the accident, and determine who should be responsible for the damages resulting from the crash.

East Carroll Parish Motor Vehicle Accident Statistics:

  • Ninety people were injured as a result of motor vehicle crashes.
  • Six people were injured in alcohol-related accidents.
  • One person suffered injuries in an accident involving a large truck/bus.
