Assumption Parish

One of the twenty-two Acadiana Parishes in Louisiana, Assumption Parish is home to more than 23,000 residents and was founded as the eighth parish of the Louisiana Territory in 1807. The parish is named for the Festival of the Assumption of the Blessed Virgin Mary and is located in southeastern Louisiana, neighboring Iberville Parish and Ascension Parish to the north. Due to the vast expanses of incredibly fertile soil, Assumption Parish is a largely agricultural-based parish and has long remained as one of the largest sugarcane producers in the entire state. The beautiful Madewood Plantation is a prime example of the parish’s rich cultural history and is located in the city of Napoleonville, which also serves as the parish seat. Parishioners enjoy the festivities of the annual Christmas Heritage Banquet, which takes place every December at the Madewood Plantation.

Motor vehicle accidents can occur unexpectedly at any location and at any time, and the causes of these accidents range from inattentive drivers to alcohol-impaired drivers. Nearly 69,000 people were injured in car crashes in Louisiana in 2013, which equates to roughly 189 people injured each day. Another 668 people lost their lives in vehicular crashes in Louisiana in the same year. If you or a loved one suffered injuries in a motor vehicle accident, you should immediately consult a skilled personal injury attorney who can help protect your rights.
