St. Martinville

Located in the center of Cajun Country on Bayou Teche, St. Martinville is home to just under 7,000 residents and presently serves as the seat of St. Martin Parish. Originally part of the Attapakas Territory named for the local Attapakan Native American tribe, St. Martinville was founded in the 18th century primarily by French settlers, whose influence is exemplified today by the large concentration of French-speaking residents living in the area. The most famous attraction in St. Martinville is Evangeline Oak Park, which is named after the world-famous poem by Henry Wadsworth Longfellow. The city is neighbors with Breaux Bridge and Lafayette to its north and New Iberia to its south. St. Martinville is also home to many festivals and celebrations each year, which primarily celebrate the local Cajun culture and heritage. Among these are the “Acadian Memorial Festival” in March, the “Acadian Day of Remembrance,” in July, and the “National Day of the Acadians” in August.

Motor vehicle crashes can occur at any location and at any moment, and the causes of these accidents can range from simple inattentive drivers to reckless alcohol-impaired drivers. Nearly 73,000 people were injured in vehicular crashes in Louisiana in 2012, which equates to roughly 200 people injured everyday. An additional 722 lives were lost in motor vehicle accidents in that same year. St. Martin Parish saw over 1,000 people injured during that time span as a result of automobile collisions. These accidents can simply be unavoidable occurrences and they often lead to catastrophic injuries that ravage victims and their families. The complexity of the circumstances surrounding these accidents can often lead to great difficulty determining who is liable for resulting damages, which inevitably results in headaches dealing with various insurance companies. Only a well-versed personal injury attorney can adequately assess your situation and protect your rights.
