Lake Charles

Located in the southwestern region of Louisiana, Lake Charles is home to over 73,000 residents and is the fifth most-populated city in the entire state. Lake Charles is named after its founder, Charles Sallier, who moves his family to a nearby lake, which was originally known as “Charlie’s Lake.” The city was formally incorporated in 1861 and was originally named “Charleston” before dissatisfaction by the settlers over the name led to its change to “Lake Charles” only six years later. Lake Charles is home to McNeese State University, which proudly educates over 8,700 students each year. A variety of annual festivities provide great music, food, and fun for the whole family, such as the Cal-Ca-Chew Food Festival and the International Music & Food Festival.

Vehicular collisions are responsible for thousands of injuries every month in parishes across Louisiana. Motor vehicle accidents are to be expected in densely-populated regions such as Calcasieu Parish, where Lake Charles is located, and these crashes can lead to catastrophic injuries or even death. Last year in Calcasieu Parish, over 3,500 people suffered injuries (fourth highest in the state) and thirty-six lives were lost (third highest in the state) as a direct result of motor vehicle accidents. These accidents can be simply unavoidable occurrences and the causes of these accidents can range from distracted drivers using their cell phones to reckless motorists impaired by alcohol or drugs. If you ever find yourself in a vehicular collision, it is pertinent to immediately contact a well-versed personal injury attorney who can adequately assess your situation and help you protect your rights.
