Broussard

Founded in 1884, Broussard is located in both Lafayette Parish and St. Martin Parish and is home to over 8,600 residents. The area was originally named Côte Gelée (French for “Frozen Hills”) due to the notoriously harsh winter of 1784 and for its noteworthy hilly ridges. After its founding in 1884, Côte Gelée was renamed to Broussard after Valsin Broussard, a merchant who founded the first Vigilante Committee in the area.

Broussard boasts some of the most expansive sugarcane production in Louisiana, which, alongside Texas, Florida, and Hawaii, is only one of four states to commercially produce sugarcane. Along with the oil and gas industry, sugarcane is one of the principal industries of Broussard and surrounding areas.

Like much of Acadiana, Broussard takes pride in its local Cajun heritage. Broussard is home to many festivals which celebrate their heritage, namely “Le Festival du Bon Temps a’ Broussard” held each Spring. Each year, locals and tourists alike converge on Broussard for this festival to indulge in down-home Cajun cuisine, Zydeco music, and other aspects of the local Cajun culture. Broussard is also home to the Zoo of Acadiana, also known as “Zoosiana,” which provides fun for people of all ages.

Motor vehicle accidents were responsible for over 72,000 injuries and 700 deaths in Louisiana last year. The causes of these accidents can include drowsy drivers, whose delayed reaction time is often the root of a collision, and reckless motorists intoxicated by drugs or alcohol. The circumstances surrounding a motor vehicle accident can oftentimes be complex, which inevitably leads to insurance companies deferring blame to the other driver. If you are ever involved in an auto accident, you must immediately contact an experienced personal injury attorney who can confidently assess your situation, protect your rights, and fight for the just compensation that you deserve.

At Broussard, David & Moroux, our personal injury attorneys have a wealth of experience handling auto accident claims. Our injury attorneys are capable of taking on many other kinds of personal injury claims, such as those involving premises liability, products liability, brain injuries, spinal cord injuries, and birth injuries, among others.
