Blake R. David was raised in Lafayette and is a founding partner of Broussard & David, LLC. Mr. David focuses on personal injury and wrongful death litigation with an emphasis on offshore/maritime, aviation, products liability, industrial accident, and automobile and trucking accident claims.
In June of 2009, Mr. David was honored as the “Outstanding Young Lawyer of Louisiana” award by the Louisiana State Bar Association. This award was presented at the Louisiana State Bar Association’s Annual Meeting in Sandestin, Florida. This honor is bestowed annually on one attorney under 40 years of age who has made outstanding contributions to the legal profession and his or her community.
In 2007, Mr. David was lead counsel in a successful wrongful death jury trial that was recognized nationwide as one of the Top 100 Verdicts of 2007 (VerdictSearch). In 2009, he was lead counsel in another eight-figure trucking jury verdict. He has also contributed hundreds of pro bono hours through his law practice.
Mr. David’s professional associations include the Lafayette Bar Association (Board Member), the American Inn of Court of Acadiana (President-Elect, Executive Board Member), American Association for Justice and Louisiana Association for Justice (Board of Governors, Maritime Committee, Amicus Committee, Legislative Committee). He also is a founding board member of the Lafayette-Acadiana Chapter of the Federal Bar Association and served as chapter president in 2007.
Mr. David currently serves on several community organizations as well, including Downtown Development Authority (Executive Board Member), Community Foundation of Acadiana (Community Investment Committee), St. Mary’s Catholic Church (Parish Council, Eucharistic Minister, Lector), The Acadiana Tigers (Board Member, Past President), and a founding board member of "the705”, a young professionals organization focused on leadership and service in the community.
In 2006, The Daily Advertiser recognized Mr. David as "20 Under 40", an honor designating Mr. David as one of Acadiana's 20 most successful business persons under 40 years of age.
Prior to litigating, David graduated from LSU (BA, JD) and worked as a registered lobbyist with Haynie & Associates in Baton Rouge. He and his wife, Amber, reside in Lafayette with their two sons.
